History:
Jeffery Marcus Cousland, born to Damian and Kathleen Cousland on Earth in the Pacific Northwest region on the North American continent near the city of Seattle. His father at the time, and to this day, was a civilian contractor for a civic projects group that's known as Earth First. Jeffery's mother was in Starfleet as an engineer on Earth Space Dock.
Early life for Jeffery consisted of adventures in architecture, both on the ground and in space. Often he'd accompany his mother to and from Space Dock as she'd go off and do her duties on the station. He'd be free to wander about the massive station, looking around at the awe inspiring installation that had a predominant Starfleet presence on it. Before Jeffery had even entered high school, he was determined that a career in Starfleet is what he wanted.
Upon graduating from high school, Jeffery immediately took the entrance exams for Starfleet Academy. The first couple months out of school were spent in relaxation as he discussed with friends and family what exactly he was going to do in Starfleet. He was only eighteen at the time and was unsure of what wonders the galaxy held, but was more than eager to jump onto the first Starship that he could when he earned his uniform. In the spring of 2379, Jeffery began his tenure at the academy.
The next four years went by rather uneventfully, Jeffery taking an interest in the engineering side of starfleet operations. Graduating twenty-eighth in his class in 2383, he was assigned to the USS Lisbon as an operations officer. The Lisbon was a Miranda class vessel assigned to exploration operations in the southern arm of the Federation near to the Klingon Empire. Within three months of his being assigned to the Lisbon, Jeffery was given a commendation after showing remarkable valor during an engagement with an unknown vessel. Jeffery's station was just aside that of tactical at the time, and an exploding panel had taken the tactical officer out. The officer that should've replaced him hesitated for a moment too long, so Jeffery out of reflex took over the station.
Eight months later, Jeffery was reassigned to the USS Tiburon in 2385. Most of his time was spent as an operations officer, but was reassigned to tactical due to his noticeable aptitude for the job. Serving as a tactical officer was a bit of a departure for Jeffery since he was more keen towards the engineering and operations side of being a Starfleet officer on a starship, but took to being a tactical officer with ease. Eventually he settled into the position.
Crew rotation came around in 2386 for the Tiburon, and Jeffery found himself rotated off of the Tiburon and onto the USS Invincible. Jeffery was asked to assume duties as the Chief Tactical and Security Officer aboard the Invincible. The first few weeks aboard the Invincible were packed with excitement as the ship went on it's assignment to investigate a Borg Cube, running into some trouble with some assailants on the ship there weren't the Bord. Jeffery lost a security officer, which that coupled with his relative inexperience in being under combat duress, made him examine his fitness as a Starfleet Officer. He overcame the sudden doubt though and returned to duty, taking his tactical station after the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer were abducted from the ship. Once rescued, Jeffery was asked to assume the Executive Officer position since the previous XO, Sarah Clarke, had been killed by the abductors.
